Research Title: Species habitat relationships of native and invasive snails within the Diamond Y spring system

Bio: I was raised in rural Minnesota, approximately 60 miles northeast of the city of Brainerd.  I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in December of 2007 with a B.A. in biology and an emphasis in ecology and evolutionary biology.  While in college, I was involved in painted turtle ecology and fish shoaling behavior research.  After graduation, I monitored the feeding habits and migration patterns of European starlings in central Kansas.  I then left the plains and headed for the mountains working as a fisheries technician for the National Park Service in Yellowstone.  The majority of my time in Yellowstone was spent working on the lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) eradication program as well as monitoring ecosystem health.  Here at TTU, I am researching the species habitat associations of native snails and the invasive red-rimmed melania snail  (Melanoides tuberculatas) at the Diamond Y spring preserve located in West Texas under Dr. David Rogowski.
