Research Title: Conservation of desert stream fishes in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas

Bio: I received my B.S. in Marine Science from Mie University, Japan in 2003 and M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Mississippi State University, U.S.A. in 2008. For my master thesis project, I studied the fish assemblage patterns relative to floodplain landscapes in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley. Through this project, I realized that understanding the link between dispersal and colonization success of native and non-native fishes and environmental changes is important for predicting future species invasion and extinction, as well as for developing management strategies. In order to study such links, I would like to examine the spatio-temporal variability of fluvial fish assemblages and their dependence on life-history traits and physicochemical and spatial factors in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas.
