Sandhill cranes are monogamous during the mating season. Pairs generally form from ages three to seven years, although Florida Sandhill cranes from pairs as young as 14 months. Pairs will remain in tact following successful reproduction. Clutch size is 1-2 and incubation is 30 days. Both male and female incubate the eggs. After hatching, the young are fed and cared for by both parents with the female taking on the primary role. Juveniles remain with the parents until the age of 10 months. A single brood is raised each year.
