Mating usually occurs in January. Gestation is about two months, at the end of which two or three kittens are born ( Quinn and Parker, 1987). The kittens are given independence at around eight months old. Sexual maturity is reached at one year, but first reproduction may not occur until much later, depending on environmental factors ( Todd, 1985).
