The Texas Horned Lizard is found from sea level up to 6,500 feet some areas. (Whiting, Dixon & Murray, 1993) The Texas Horned lizard range is the most eastern of all the horned lizards. It is found in arid and semiarid open areas with cactus, mesquite, and woody shrubs. The Texas Horned Lizards requires areas of bare ground in order to build the nests. They also require that ants are available for feeding in there home range.
