The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Lists the Texas Horned Lizard as threatened. (Manaster, 1997) The state has made laws against the collection of these lizards from the wild. The use of claiming the Lizards are threatened can halt development on certain lands if it can be proven it is their habitat. The greatest threats to the lizards are man, fire ants and pesticides; therefor these are the main things to focus on to return the lizards back to prominence. (Manaster, 1997)
