Swine began in India and spread
through Europe, Central Asia, and Africa. Human exploration introduced swine into all of
the Old World and into the New World. The United States population of hogs is established
from Texas to Virginia, California to Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
