Much of the success in
the management of this species is attributable to the biological nature of the animals,
themselves - they exhibit resilient population features and adaptibility to human presence
(Bolen, 1995 pg27). They respond readily to management (Burger, 1973 pg49). Management
of the cottontail is habitat related (Nebraska Website). To manage, brush cover can be
restored where clean farming is/was practiced. Shelterbelts, thickets and other kinds of
cover available approximately avery 200m offer prime cottontail habitat (Bolen, 1995
pgs259, 279). |
