Reproduction

The snake will spend the first two years of its life in seclusion (Benson 2002).  Breeding occurs during the winter followed by the deposition of eggs in the spring (Cannatella 2000).  Clutch sizes of 10-12 eggs are normal with an incubation period of 70-85 days (Benson 2002).
