There are 11 recognized subspecies.  In order of descending size, they are:  Giant, Western, Vancouver, Dusky, Interior, Atlantic, Lesser, Taverner’s, Aleutian, Richardson’s, and Cackling Canada geese (Bellrose 1980, 142).
