Historical
Distribution
The
alligator snapping turtle has historical range through Texas, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma and Missouri
(Richards 2002). It can still be found within is historical range;
however population numbers are a fraction of what they were prior to the
nineteen eighties (Richards 2002, Roman and Bowen 2001).
