Advice for undergraduates interested in research

I am committed to the mentoring of talented undergraduates through active participation in research projects. This is a way for students to get hands-on experience with research and become personally involved in the discovery process. Participating in research provides experience that is hard to obtain in any other way, and is an excellent way to decide whether research is right for you.

Research is very time-consuming, and many undergraduates find that the demands of actively participating in a project do not mesh well with their other commitments. For others, however, conducting research as an undergraduate can be one of the most rewarding experiences they will have on campus. This is especially true of people who are academically oriented and interested in pursuing careers in Academia or related professional fields.

If you are interested in being involved in the research conducted in my lab, please come and see me at Goddard 103D, or contact me via e-mail. Much of my work is carried out off-campus, but some aspects of most projects are based on-campus. Together, we will try to identify issues that are of interest to you.

One way to arrange for such participation is through the Honors College's Undergraduate Research Fellow Program.  Read more
