The Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management departmental mission is to

  1. provide quality instruction and learning experiences to undergraduate and graduate students from Texas, the United States, and foreign countries in the fields of range, wildlife, and fisheries management that will develop the knowledge necessary for the students to successfully meet natural resource demands of an ever-changing world,

  2. conduct quality research that provides an understanding of the scientific method by students and advances knowledge relative to solution of natural resource problems, and

  3. provide quality service to public and private resource managers through the transfer of technical information.

Our research mission is accomplished by conducting state-of-the-art, cutting-edge research in range, wildlife, and fisheries sciences. Although Texas Tech University does not have an extension “arm”, one of the goals of the Department is to provide a service of outreach to the landowners and natural resource managers in Texas, the United States, and the world.

Both basic and applied research conducted by the faculty in the Department of Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management have global as well as regional significance. The abstracts contained herein demonstrate some of that research, as well as providing outreach information to those in government and the private sector. Since this is a progress report, results are not final. For this reason, the information should not be published or used for other purposes without permission of Texas Tech University.
