| Lacey Act | Prohibits transport of illegal game between states or countries. Established Federal over state jurisdiction across boundaries. |
| Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act | Established the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - out of Bur. of Biological Survey, U.S. Dep. Agric.and housed it in the Dep. Interior. Established policy for USFWS and ensured that state perogatives for resident wildlife were not infringed upon. |
| Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act | Established first legislation for non-game fish and wildlife (those not take for fur,food, or sport, and are not listed as Threatened or Endangered, or marine mammals). While authorized, there is not funding mechanism for this act. |
| Endangered Species Conservation Act of Fish and Wildlife | Defined Endangered and Threatened Species, puts responsibility for listing with Sect'y of Interior. Protects populations and habitats of listed species. $$ support comes from Land & Water Cons. Fund |
| Protection of Wild Horses and Burros Act | Protects unbranded and unclaimed horses and burros on public lands. 'Control' of populations specifically restricted to U.S. Dep. Interior. |
| Bald Eagle Protection Act | Establishes special status of bald and golden eagles. taking is permitted only for scientific, depredation (regulated by USDI), or native american cultural purposes. |
| Multiple Use Sustained Yield Act | Defines Multiple Use and Sustained Yield. know these terms |
| Wilderness Act | Defines Wilderness and established the National Wilderness Preserve system. |
| National Forest Management Act | Restated the mandates for the U.S. Forest Service includes terms like: multiple use-sustained yield, interdisciplinary management, and restricts timber harvest where not ecologically sound. |
| Federal Land Policy and Management Act | Similar to (NFMA) but for Bureau of Land Management. Regulates grazing. |
| Land and Water Conservation Fund Act | Revenues from land sales, boat fuel tax, and park fees; used for land acquisition for recreation. |
| National Encironmental Policy Act | Established (Cabinet level) council for Environmental Quality. Requires Envirnmental Impact Statement for any federally funded project that significantly affects the human environment. |
